Sylvia Corsets
For my senior collection, I made five fully finished corsets, not including mock-ups and redos. Around 9 hours went into each corset alone, with hours spent patterning, conducting fittings, constructing, making boning channels, hand sewing, hammering in grommets, and various other techniques.
During my freshman year, I decided I wanted my senior collection models to be various sizes. One, this would and did give me an extra challenge, and two, it would make my collection feel more real in general.
I’m mentioning this because this challenge meant that I didn't just make five corsets for industry standard size two models; I made five corsets for different, unique, REAL women.
